About the trip
From the moment you arrive until you leave, at Jotunheimen Husky Lodge you are close to the huskies and are an active participant in the whole dog sled-experience. We start by giving instructions on how to harness the dogs and manage the sled. You’ll work in teams of two and take turns steering the sled.
Before we set off, you and your partner will be handed a card with the names of “your” dogs and collect them at the kennel. The hosts at Jotunheimen Husky Lodge will assist whenever needed. This whole experience is both easy and educational – and you’ll get to know the dogs rather well.
When the dog team is ready, we rush out into the forest. Enjoy the sight of the dogs, the power of the sled, the weather and the amazingly beautiful nature. We ride through the pine forest and towards the mountain lake Tesse, before turning back to the logde. We’ll be out on the sled for about an hour and a half. This gives you a good taste of what it means to be a dog musher!
Back at the kennels, you remove the harnesses and follow the dogs to their houses. Then we enjoy delicious coffee and homemade pastries around the campfire. Here you can ask all the questions you might have or just digest the impressions of the trip. We also have some stories to share about the dogs, the training, the races we have partaken in Alaska and Norway, not to mention our daily life at Randsverk with our huge “family” of 30 huskies.
This trip is suitable to anyone who likes the outdoors and wants to check out dog sledding.
Welcome to a wonderful taste of dog sledding!
